Why Can't You Understand Spoken Irish Yet?

📖😊
I read Irish easily. Radio should be simple.
Reading

They talk so fast! Where do words end?
Listening
🪓🎧
Slow audio first, then short native clips.
The ladder

Today I followed a whole clip!
A month on
- The gap is normal. Reading outpaces listening because text gives you time and word boundaries. Speech blends and shortens words without warning.
- Find the cause. Speed, dialect and vocabulary problems each need a different fix. Then drill the right problem.
- Climb a ladder. Graded audio, slowed native audio, short native clips, then longer unscripted content. Move up only when a step feels comfortable.
The Irish Gaelic Self-Study Progress Tracker at https://kimnet8.gumroad.com/l/kanmzp has a separate listening column, so this gap stays visible instead of hiding in a single total. Log your minutes, note what you heard and rate how much you followed.
